Event Description

EVENT DESCRIPTION: 3 Rivers Race Against Domestic Violence is a benefit bike or run (individual or team) event  located in the beautiful Grande Ronde Valley to raise money for the domestic violence centers in Union, Baker, and Wallowa Counties.  Riders  can designate their fundraising to go to the center of their choice.

REGISTRATION FEE:  The JellyBean Walk is free. The entry fee for other events is a $50 minimum pledge for individuals or $100 family (Includes a BBQ for 4 members. T-shirts may be purchased for $15 each).  This is a benefit so participants are encouraged to raise as much in pledges as they can.  Our goal is $28,000.  LET’S DO IT!!!

PARTICIPANTS: Participants can choose to bike, run or walk as individuals or as members of cycling or running/walking teams.

ROUTES: There are a number of routes to choose from: We have something for everybody including a 5 K, 10K  for runners and  walkers, a 35, 55, 70 mile or century bike for teams and individuals.  For those that do not want to bike 35, 55, 70 or 100 miles, you can choose to ride the runner’s  route.  We will start from Pioneer Park again this year (North on Oak off of Adams Avenue).

START AND FINISH: The race will start and finish at Pioneer Park in La Grande, Oregon. Official start times for the event are at 6 a.m. for the 70 plus mile bikers, 9 a.m for the 55 mile bikers, and 12 noon for the 10K and 5 K runs. Walkers start at 10 a.m. The bike routes will begin at Pioneer Park. The bike route description is as described.

PLEDGES: This is a charity event.  We ask that each participant collect as many pledges as possible. Remember, there will be prizes for those who raise over $250.  Remember, this is a fundraiser for a GREAT cause; most people are willing to give $5-$10. It is easiest to collect your $ at the time of solicitation. Prizes for the most pledges will be given

WHERE THE PROCEEDS GO: ALL proceeds go to The Shelter from the Storm, Mayday, or Safe Harbors, depending on which program is in your area. These programs offer valuable services such as crisis intervention, counseling, support groups, transportation, advocacy in the legal system, 24 hour crisis hotline; aide in the form of sheltering victims and their immediate family; making community presentations in order to create more awareness about the prevalence of domestic violence in our communities. Thank you for your support!

BBQ/PRIZES/AWARDS:  BBQ will begin at 1 p.m.  Great food sponsored by Aramark!! Great music by “Sum People”!! A grand prize will go to the individual who raises the most money.  The family who raises the most money and anybody who raises more than $250 in pledges will receive a prize as well. Prizes will also be granted to the fastest individual and the fastest bike team; the fastest male and female for the 5 and 10 K; and the fastest male and female for the 55, 70 mile and century bike.

SPONSORSHIPS: Organizational Teams are encouraged to ask their administration for a $250 (silver) or $500 (gold) sponsorship.  This does not take the place of the $50 individual minimum pledge.  Sponsors will get their name on the T-shirt (gold sponsors get bigger font), on banners placed throughout the race, recognition at the post race party, and recognition in the media.

REGISTRATION: Individual participants and team captains should download a registration packet from the menu above or go to www.active.com to register on line. Participants may also register at The Mountainworks on 1307 Adams in La Grande, Oregon. Packet pickup is the eve of the race from 4-6 PM at The Mountainworks Bike Shop on Adams Ave.
